The bottoms have a very thin black rubber material in them which is really nice. There is a blade tray, also of this heavy steel material that just rests on any of the compartments or you can not use it at all. It is made of very heavy gage metal, the top of the scissor compartment comes off so you can use that bin as an open bin rather than a scissor area if you choose and its easy to clean out the inside also with it being removable.
